07/11 - Kuhl Hose was dispatched to assist Brookside at a Semi Accident.  Brookside was dispatched for a semi accident with entrapment and fire.  On arrival 252 reported a Semi off the roadway over an embankment no fire.   Shortly after command confirmed entrapment and called for Belle Valley Rescue 368.  68 crews were just put in service from an AFA and were also requested with 683 & manpower.  When 683 arrived they began to work with the 24, 36, Emergycare and Harborcreek Township Emergency crews to treat and disentangle the victim.  Crews used many rescue tools, both hand and hydraulic to complete the disentanglement.  Part of 683 crews stretched a 1 3/4" hand line to extinguish a fire in the engine compartment during the extrication.

 

The driver had severe injuries and was removed from the wreckage after a lengthy extrication.  The victim was transported to UPMC Hamot for treatment of his injuries.  The State Police are investigating.
