Saturday night the members of Kuhl Hose, Family and Friends gathered at the Waterfall Restaurant to honor Firefighter Tom Allgeier for his 50 years of Active & dedicated service to Kuhl Hose and to the residents of Greene Township.
Tom Joined the fire department in August of 1956 and is still active today, and working toward 51 years and beyond of service.
Gathering were his wife Ruth Anne, Niece Janet, Son Larry and his step father Sam Macrino, Son David & Wife Michelle, grandson Grant. Also were his friends, Al Barger, Chip Chiappazzi, Rob Shea, Dick Rob, Jim Petrone. Not the most important gathered but a very special group his Kuhl Hose family.
Did you know?
Tom is the father of 3 grown children, and is now the father to a 5 year & 9 yr old that he and his wife have adopted. He lives on the farm where he was born, which he still operates. Working a full time job with the Quinn T corporation Tom puts in near full time hours for the fire department.
Tom had to call the fire department once for his own home in the early 1990's.
Responding to a car fire one night near the fire station with heavy traffice and blinding lights Tom became trapped in his truck under a Gas tanker after a crash.
Tom represented Kuhl Hose at the National Firefighter Combat Challenge in Texas in the Over 50 category, and came home with 2nd place.
The changes that Tom has witnessed in the fire service:
Beginning with a home made rescue truck that the Firemen would take to rescue calls and transport port PT’s using the inhalator with very basic first aid training to today with EMT’s, Paramedics and fully equipped ambulance’s.
Many, many friends who have come and gone from the fire department
Tom has held the following positions
Fire Police, Lieutenant, Captain, Safety Officer, Chief in the 60’s, Chief consecutively 1974-1980 and again, Chief in the 90’s.
The thousands of hours, thousands of Calls, thousands of lives you’ve touched, and the multiple paths you've crossed to make our little part of the world a better place…..
With Love from all of us….
Thank you Tom….
Tom is presented a Clock with an engraved plaque from the Fire Department.
