Erie Fire Department responded to the third fire in a vacant structure in less than a week. A fire at Buffalo and Brandes today was in a vacant structure that sits next to another vacant structure that burned over the weekend. Crews had the fire under control in a short time but were on the scene for an extended time due to the instability of the structure which made overhaul difficult. The fire is under investigation by the EFD and EPD.
This was the third fire of the day for the 1st Platoon. Firefighters were not only battled the fire but high heat and humidity, an EMTA Bus was called to use for rehab.
